Mrs. Joyce Annette Lomax

Joyce Annette Lomax went home to be with the Lord suddenly on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. She was born October 17, 1959 in Greenwood, MS to Jerlean Reed and Eddie Lockett Sr. She was the firstborn of four to this union. She had 6 brothers and 6 sisters. In 1959 Joyce moved to Kalamazoo, MI. She graduated from Sawyer Business College in 1989 with a degree in Computer Science. Joyce volunteered as an Addiction Counselor to help those who were fighting for their freedom from addiction. She was a devoted mother, a caring sister, sweet aunt, loving grandmother and a great friend. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a smile that was contagious; and her personality was like a ray of sunshine bringing happiness to all she encountered. Joyce also had a passion to assist others that were struggling in addiction. She had a strength that was like no other. In her latter years, Joyce accepted Christ and her life was transformed. She was an avid bible reader and loved God with all her heart. She was actively involved in the Children’s Ministry at her church home New Covenant Life Ministries in Port Huron. Joyce was a very resourceful person and she loved helping people. She instilled morals and values, not only to her children; but, to her nieces, nephews and a host of others so they too, would be able to apply these precious principals to their life. Joyce was preceded in death by her father Eddie Augusta Lockett Sr., her grandparents, Etta and Henry Reed, and Ola and Jack Lockett. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, William Lomax of Port Huron, MI; her mother Jerlean Reed of Orlando, FL; four children: Natosha (Eddie) Burks of Irving TX, ; Larry (Serena) Lockett of Shelbyville, TN; Marquitta Lockett and Elijah Lomax both of Port Huron, MI; six sisters: Renee' (Michael) Cox, and Dorothy (James) Kennedy all of Battle Creek, MI; Gloria Stacy and Redise (Mark) Shakespeare all of Athens, GA; Tamika Reed of Orlando, FL and Patricia Ford of Kalamazoo, MI; brothers: Theodore (Jamolda) Lockett of Evansville, GA Eddie (Kesha) Lockett Jr. of Orlando, FL; Larry Lockett of Inglewood, CA; Jimmy (Katrina) Stacy; Scott (Olivia) Lockett; and Norman (Sharon) Stacy all of Kalamazoo, MI; and 13 grandchildren. Also, 2 special sisters, Carolyn Lockett and Marylin Rivera and a host of relatives and friends.
