Larry was born on December 10, 1950, to Johnnie and Lannie (Brown) Williams; he was the youngest of 6 children. Larry accepted Christ at an early age. His faith sustained him through life, and he kept hope in the Lord. Larry graduated from Charleston High School in Charleston, MO in 1969 and just a year later was drafted into The United States Army serving three years as a Military Officer. Upon returning home from serving our country Larry was employed by General Motors in Kalamazoo, MI and later transferred to Toledo, OH where he devoted 38 years and 10 months as a tool and dye maker. With much pride and joy, he retired in 2008. Mr. Larry Dale Williams was cool and suave as Teddy Pendergrass as some would affectionately call him “Teddy”. From the way he dressed and would polish off any look with the right dapper hat, to his deep but raspy voice. Let it not be mistaken, he was also a firecracker! He could go from zero to one hundred in 60 seconds, but to know him was to love him. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he treated everyone with dignity and respect. If he met you and liked you, you were alright in his book. Larry packed a lot of living into his 72-year journey here on this earth! He enjoyed the casino, going dancing, and was always excited to teach his family the latest hustles he learned. We can’t forget those glazed donuts, he was an avid foodie. Larry was proceeded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Lannie Williams, his son, Anthony D. Powell, sister Johnnie L. Griffin, brother Mack Williams, brothers-in-law(s) Bobby G. Jennings, Sam Martin, and Roger Griffin. Larry leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy; three children Michael (Trista) Powell of St. Louis, MO. Lerese (James) White of Kalamazoo, MI and Josue Martin of Kalamazoo, MI. two sisters, Sylvia Jennings, and Barbara Williams-Martin both of Kalamazoo, MI and one brother, Willie C. Williams Sr. of Rio Rancho, NM., a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Theresa, Oscar and Tom all of Toledo, OH. Whom ALL he loved very much. Though his journey here on earth be finished, “Like I say” we’ll be seeing you later.
