Mrs. Lillie Mae Boyd

Over seventy-seven years ago, God knew there was a need for a strong matriarch. Therefore, He called into being Lillie Mae Fields. She was born July 4, 1935 to David and Frances Fields in Parkin, AR. She was the fourth child of five. Having answsered God’s calling and fulfilling His will, Lillie departed this life on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Bronson Battle Creek hospital and returned to her heavenly home. She met and joined in holy matrimony Isaiah Boyd on February 17, 1952. To this union seven children were born. In 1959, Isaiah and Lillie moved to Battle Creek where she was employed at Rose Country Kitchen and the State Home Fort Custer. After the State Home moved to Coldwater, MI, Lillie opened her loving daycare to many families for 25 years. During this time she also incorporated foster care for many children. After her retirement from the daycare and foster care, she went to work at Battle Creek Central in the cafeteria. Half of the students knew her from the daycare andoften came back to the house as adults to visit their Lillie. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, tending her flower beds, decorating, shopping and emjoying her grandchildren. Her most cherished past time was having a cup of coffee in the morning and studying the Word of God. She accepted Christ at the age of 44 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Willie Taylor. She participated in so many different auxillaries such as the President of the pastor’s Aide, Church Trustee, President of the Senior Choir, President of the Mother’s Board, a member of the Community mass Choir, Sister II Sister Choir, and a member of the hospitality community. If anyone had a request for a certain, they would call upon Lillie for her famous chicken and dressing. And, if you didn’t know anything else about her, just simply mention, “The lady that cooks the rib dinners at Shiloh”. Lillie was preceded in death by her Husband, Isaiah; two sons, Isaiah II and Ronnie; one daughter, Connie and her parents. She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughters, Deborah, Fannie and Tina (Fred) all of Battle Creek, MI and Lourie of Round Lak, IL; sons, Anthony, Andrew, and Tyrone all of Battle Creek; four grandchildren, Sabrita, Darius, Lorenzo and Whitney all of Illinois and four great grandchildren: Gregory, Tyanna, Davion, and Rodney all of Battle Creek; one daughter-in-law, Brenda of Akron, OH; 2 sister-in-laws, Leatha Scott of Battle Creek and Bertha Boyd of Chicago, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also, very special friends, Maxine Harris, Marie Murphy, Joyce Henderson and Rose Johnson.
