Ms. Lucille Johnnie Snell

Lucille Johnnie Snell passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016. She was born to the late Jiles and Mary Stacey on May 25, 1942 in Belzoni, Mississippi. She married Wesley Jackson Jr. in 1962. They moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1963, where they had three children together: Debbie Johnson, Joyce Jackson, and Wendy Stubbs. They also raised her other two children as their own; LC Lamar Stacy and Eugene (Bernard) Stacy. Lucille was a very kind and loving person. She would give you the shirt off of her back. Her door was always open to whoever needed a place to stay, whether she knew you well or not. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them . She loved to dress up really nice, wear nice wigs and always wore her make-up nice. in her younger days, she enjoyed going out to Westside and The President's with her family and friends . Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Jiles and Mary Stacy; her late husband, Jewell Snell ("Pops"); a daughter Christine Stacy; her five brothers, Jessie James Stacy, Clarence Stacy (Willie May Moore), Norman Stacey (Jerlean Stacy), Henery Stacy (Juanita Stacy) and James Stacy ("Bay-Bay”; three step brothers, Tom Carter (“Kuda”); Barnett Carter and Robert Carter; one sister with whom she shared a father, Anne May Butler; two grandchildren, Lamar (L.C.) Stacey, Jr. and Joesiaha Syncere Davis; and a very special aunt, Liza Johnson. Lucille leaves behind to forever cherish her memory: three daughters, Debbie (William ) Johnson, Joyce (Bruce) Jackson–Buckner and Wendy Stubbs (Steve Larthridge); three sons, Lamar (L.C.) Stacey, Sr. (Jania Harkness); Eugene (Benard) Stacey (the late Lois Stacey); and Deshawn Jackson all of Kalamazoo, Michigan; a step sister Syvilee Carter; 21 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; a very special granddaughter, Rain Jackson; a very special great granddaughter, Ar'Moniey Martin; a very special cousin Elizabeth (“Cricket”) Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends that she held very close to her heart . Although Lucille has departed this life, her legacy will live on through all of her family and friends who knew and loved her.
