Mrs. Magnolia Anderson

Magnolia Anderson age 84 made her heavenly transition October 26, 2016. She was born in Carter, Mississippi on November 15, 1931 to the late Henry Gardner and Florida B. Washington. She was lovingly called "Manae". In 1948, Magnolia married the late Joe David Anderson. Magnolia and Joe worked on several plantations in Mississippi. In 1950, Magnolia and Joe started their family. She continued raising her family and working on the plantation until 1964. In 1964, she moved her family to Kalamazoo, MI and began her life with RE Buchanan. While in Kalamazoo she worked at Murray's Packing Company and later as a senior companion. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would always say, "I don't have a lot of money, but I have a lot of time. Come on over". Magnolia was a member of Christian Life Center (Stones Church) for many years. Magnolia made donations to several Christian Organizations, which include: Unity Church -Missouri; Pastor Roberts-Oklahoma; and Pastor Baker-California. She also sponsored several children through the International Children's Fund. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Gardner and Florida B Washington; her sisters Adele and Mattie; her brothers; Henry, Walter ("Coot") and LB; her daughter, Cynthia Kay; her nephew James Albert Gardner (“Bill”) and RE Buchanan. She leaves to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy of love and kindness; 7 daughters Joeanne Anderson, Dorothy Anderson, Gloria Williams, Lillie Burdine all of Kalamazoo, Lateefah Folayan of Atlanta, Brenda Buchanan and Carolyn Anderson of Kalamazoo; 12 grandchildren; Jeanette Anderson, Tony Anderson, Michael Anderson, David Anderson, Amina Folayan, Ursila Hamilton, Prentice Buchanan, Cynthia Buchanan, Jeffrey Buchanan, Devery Irving, Deonte and Naquavia Burdine all of Kalamazoo, 4 special nephews, Bill Williams of California, Larry Williams of Mississippi, Rufus Patwin, James Flannigan both of Kalamazoo. Magnolia also leaves son-in-law, Jerry Williams and grandson-in-law, Dean Hamilton; 31 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; 2 special friends, Polly Stovall, Pastor Daisy Baker and a host of other relatives and friends.
