An abundance of love surrounded him. Chris was born on December 24, 1952, in Benton Harbor, Michigan to parents Mamie Harry and Jesse White. His early years were spent in Benton Harbor until the family relocated to Kalamazoo, MI in 1966. Chris graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1972. His class was the first to graduate from the new building. After graduation, Chris joined the United States Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal. While in the Marines, he worked as a Military Police Officer as well as a Disc Jockey. Following his Honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Chris settled in Chicago, IL where he lived and worked for over 40 years. Chris was employed with Soft Sheen Hair Care Company for many years and later retired from the United States Postal Service (USPS) with over 20 years of employment. He was respected for his integrity, hard work, and loyalty. While in Chicago, Chris received two associate degrees, in Business & Computer Science, and was also a, Realtor for Century 21. Upon retiring from USPS in 2017, Chris returned "Home to Kalamazoo". Chris loved spending time with his family, friends, and loved ones. He was the family’s "Grill Master", known for his Famous Jerk Chicken! Chris was a man of very few words who enjoyed playing cards, chess, and dominoes. He also enjoyed traveling and listening to old-school music. Chris's most recent traveling experience was with his family in April 2023, where he went to Vegas and hit the JackPot. Chris leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold him in their hearts. His daughter, Cassandra Lynn Brown (Romulus, MI), three grandchildren, Augeree Johnson, Asondray Johnson, and Darrell Burton, two great-grandchildren, Khalani Johnson and Lorenzo Johnson (Romulus MI). Three bonus children Terez Sumrall, Andrea Stafford, and Steve Stafford (Chicago, IL), brothers, Dwight Lee White and Ray White (Kalamazoo, MI), sisters, Jacquiline Lewis (Euclid, OH), Patricia Ann Jordan (Fresno, CA), Gwendolyn Burton (Harrisburg, PA), Sheila (Van) Pittman (Kalamazoo, MI), Tena Hackney (Benton Harbor, MI) Caroline (AL) Smith (Clearwater, FL), Loretta White (Kalamazoo, MI) and a host of nieces & nephews. Special family & friends, Rodice Clay (Chicago, IL), Linda Allen (Detroit, MI), Major Eatmon & Leon "J-Bird" Coleman (Kalamazoo, MI). He was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie Harry and Jesse White.
