Mr. Demetrus Antwan Betts

Demetrus Antwan Betts, known to all as “Tron”, began his journey home on Thursday, August 17, 2017. He was born December 21, 1984 the son of John Betts and Myrtis Clark in Kalamazoo, MI. He relocated to Charleston, MO with his mother Myrtis and attended Charleston Public Schools. He later moved back to Kalamazoo with his father and step-mother Sherry Lampkins and began attending Kalamazoo Public Schools. Demetrus enjoyed people and was the life of the party. He was someone everyone wanted to be around because of his fun outgoing personality. He loved his family very much, especially his children. He was an excellent father, wonderful son and a loyal friend. He loved R&B music and would listen to Trey Songs, Jacquees and Chris Brown, who was his favorite performing artist. He also loved to sing and dance. Demetrus was very strong and acrobatic and could do backward flips with ease. He liked watching action movies. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mattie Mae Green; great-grandmother, Mary Hopkins; 2 nieces, Darriah and Shyrriicka and 1 nephew, Bernarion Betts; and 2 step-brothers, Justin Clark and Charles Clark Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted fiancee , Alishia Carter-Chatman; his parents: his mother, Myrtis Clark; step-father Charles Clark; father, John Betts; step-mother, Sherry Lampkins; three children, Sandrika Kaprea Carter-Betts, Demetrus Amir Betts, and Ekari Lewis; his siblings, Laura Williams of Milwaukee; Malinda (Gary) Betts of Indiana; John Betts Jr. (“Lil Sonny”) of Charleston, MO; Naomi “Tinker Bell” (Timothy) Betts of Kalamazoo; Bernard “Mookie” (Gina) Betts of Charleston MO; Sonya “Piggy” (Deandre’) Betts, Alicia (Akieve) Betts, Quinishia Betts, and Darkreishia “Scooter” Betts all of Kalamazoo, MI; Jonathan Carthell of Lansing, MI; Tony (Chaz) Lampkins and Quincy (Renee’) Lampkins both of Kalamazoo; step-siblings: Jason Clark of Sikeston, MO; Selina Wright, Adriean Wright, Shawn Wright, and Jheryl Wright(who passed away September of 2012). Also, Sheila Wright (a special friend of John); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
