Pastor Isaac Terry King

Pastor Isaac King was born March 10, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, to a brief union of Bessie and Johnnie King, but was reared by Bessie and Eddie Corner Jr. He was the eldest of seven children. Isaac transitioned to Glory on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, in the presence of his loving family. As a young boy, Isaac lived in Mobile, Alabama before moving and settling with his family in Kalamazoo, MI. Isaac attended Kalamazoo Public Schools and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1970. He played varsity basketball during his high school years. He later attended Western Michigan University and was initiated in Gamma Beta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. on January 15, 1971. Upon graduation, he received his bachelor's degree in 1975. He was employed with various businesses, including Dow Chemical Company, Jewel-Osco Company and the City of Kalamazoo, before establishing his own CPA practice. Isaac met Olivia, the love of his life in 1977 and they united in marriage on April 28th, 1979. This union was blessed with two wonderful sons, Isaac Maurice Nathaniel King and Daniel Christopher Zuriel King. In addition to loving and spending time with his family, Isaac enjoyed playing checkers, chess, cycling and watching anything sports related, especially basketball and the Los Angeles Lakers and the Michigan Wolverines. He also enjoyed watching old movies especially Westerns. He was an avid reader and researcher. Isaac accepted Christ and was filled with the Holy Ghost in 1981. He became a member of The Church of God Pentecostal, serving faithfully and fervently under the leadership of Bishop Lafayette W. Davis. He was ordained through Christian International Ministries. He later accepted associate pastoral positions with Conquering Faith Fellowship and Christian Life Center, until establishing Grace Family Worship Center in 1994. As a pastor, Isaac taught faith and grace, with an emphasis on the literal interpretation of God’s word. As an experienced man of God, Isaac counseled and mentored many pastors. He was known for his compassionate and lively spirit and lived the life of faith he talked about. He was a man of integrity and set the example for many. In his lifetime, Pastor King's ministry touched the lives of countless people throughout the local community and surrounding areas. In addition, his ministry poured out to people across the nation and expanded internationally including Canada, Europe, and Trinidad. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and Eddie Corner Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Olivia King, two sons, Isaac (Amelia) King and Daniel (Kristin) King. Four brothers: Gregory King, DuWayne (Geraldine) Corner, Marlon (Lilly) Corner, and Warren (Victoria) Corner, Two sisters: Lisa (Alvin) Whitley and Audrey (Carl) Young. Mother-in-law: Jerneice Ledbetter. One brother-in-law: Randy Ledbetter and two sister-in-laws: Beverly (Reginald) Streeter and Lori Ann (Lenzy) Bell.; grandchildren; five god-daughters: LeAndra Whitley, Lennisha Bell, Kimberly Davis, Seana Turner and Sweet Paul; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
