Mr. Isaac Lee Stewart

Isaac Lee Stewart, better known as "Sutter", passed on to glory at the age of 70 years old on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born November 25, 1942 in Egypt, MS. Isaac received Jesus as his Lord and Savior at Zion Spring Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized in his grandparent's pond at an early age. Isaac attended Patterson Elementary School in Egypt, MS. Upon his grandmother's death, he moved with his stepfather and mother to Kalamazoo, Michigan. There he attended Lincoln Junior High School and Central High School, where he played basketball. In Kalamazoo, Isaac attended Second Baptist Church, where he sung in the choir and was on the Usher Board. Isaac was first raised by his grandparents, James (Jim) and Clara Collins. Upon his grandmother's death, he went to live with his stepfather, Samuel L. Gaston and mother, Eula Mae (Collins) Gaston, who have both preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by step siblings: Mose Gaston and Jimmy Gaston; and his first cousins who were raised with him by parents/grandparents, and who are like siblings: Jack Collins and and Scott Clark. Isaac leaves his sibling Annette Betts, one step sibling, Ruby Dean Gaston; and 5 first cousins who were raised with him by parents/grandparents, and who are like siblings: Delores King-Duckett, Idelle King-Gillespie, James King, Willie E. King and Maxine Clark-May. Isaac married Mary Jean Huggins and to this union three children were born: Thelma Anderson (Sammie), Walter Stewart (Lynn) and Patricia Stewart. Through these union were six grandchildren: Mary, Samantha, Darel, Yolanda, Craig and Lashonda. Isaac later married Louise (Anderson) Stewart. They were united in marriage for 30 years and together they had a host of children and grandchildren. Additional siblings include: Gennett, Joe Eddie, Curtis, Neicee, Sammie and a host of grandchildren/great grandchildren. Isaac and Louise attended and worshipped at Galilee Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Isaac worked for General Motors (GM) for 27 years and retired from GM to enjoy his elderly years of retirement. Upon retirement, Isaac continued to live in Kalamazoo and entertained his hobbies of bowling, fishing, cooking and decorating his home. He enjoyed his home life and traveled as necessary. Isaac continued to attend church with his wife, Louise and enjoyed fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Isaac is first loved by the Heavenly Father, his family, friends and affiliates. Isaac, is now in his rest and will awake when the Lord sounds His trumpet with his reward. Rest in peace for now, our dearly beloved brother in Jesus Christ.
