She was the only child born to Cleo and Lillian (Langford) Miller on April 20, 1949 in Ackerman MS. At the age of 4, her family moved to Saginaw MI. As a child, she enjoyed school, especially reading and math. She graduated from Saginaw High School, where she met Floyd Smith. They married on April 1, 1967. She began studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses as a teenager. In May of 1968, she dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. In 1970 she and her family relocated to Kalamazoo MI. She worked at the Kalamazoo Public Library until she retired in 2004 after 30 years of service. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends at her home. Martha enjoyed sharing her faith with as many people as possible. That love moved her to become a full-time servant of Jehovah and devoted 70 hours per month to the preaching work. For the past 36 years, she has been a member of the East Kalamazoo Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She is preceded in death by her parents. Martha leaves behind her two daughters Audra (George) Wilson of Shelbyville IN, and Rachael (Cory) Brown of Augusta GA. One son Darryl (Savanna) Smith of Kalamazoo MI. One grandson Marcus Isaac and one great-granddaughter Mia Isaac of Indianapolis IN. Although she was an only child, she gained many spiritual brothers and sisters. Also close friends Toija Williams, Alice Moore, Clintera Pearson, Shirley Woodard, Rita Williams, Estella Potts, Wanda Eaton, Lisa Coleman, Wanda Fernandez, Shirley Brown, Cynthia Jagdeo, Sharon Ayres, Ruth Bowens, Alice Echols, and many more. The family would like to thank the staff at Bronson Hospital, Spectrum Butterworth and Blodgett Hospitals, West Michigan Cancer Center, and Rose Arbor Hospice Care. Also a special thanks to Dr.Kelpin and Dr. Pierce.
