Mr. William "Bill" Edward Grice

William "Bill" Edward Grice was bom on December 18, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Earl A. and Rev. Alvene Lowe-Grice. The family moved to Covert, Michigan in October of 1942. After graduating from Covert High School, Bill attended Western Michigan University for 3 years and then enlisted in the Air force. While attending Western Michigan University he joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated Gamma Beta Chapter. While stationed in Las Vegas, Nevada, Bill met and married Shirley Johnson, and to this union a son was, Brian, was born. Upon his honorable discharge from servicing in the military Bill and his family relocated to Inkster, Michigan. In 1975, Bill moved back to Covert, Michigan to be with his mother after the passing of his father. During this time Bill re-established a friendship with Marilyn Moore whom he later joined in Holy Matrimony. To this union he gained a step-daughter, Lynnda. In 1977, Bill and his wife moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan where he worked for General Motors. In 1978, he joined Central Lodge #10, Prince Hall Affiliated Free and Accepted Masons, Kalamazoo, MI. In 1982, Bill and Marilyn welcomed their granddaughter, Tyann, at 3 months old, whom they raised until the present. Bill, a pipefitter, retired from General Motors in 1993. Upon his retirement he became President of Navigator Academy until its closing. Bill also was an active member of Allen Chapel AME Church, where he served as a trustee and "Mr. Fix It". Bill also had a special place in his heart for Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where his wife is a member and he would visit on occasion. In his spare time Bill enjoyed bowling, perfecting his master grilling skills and hiding his BBQ sauce recipe. Bill is preceded in death by his Father and Mother. His brother, Rev. Earl A. Grice, Jr. and his sisters, Fannie Y. Wilson and Angeline E. Smith and nephews Keith B. Tonge and David E. Grice. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Marilyn "Molly" E. Grice; stepdaughter, Lynnda J. Moore; granddaughter, Tyann J. Moore; niece, Carolyn LeFlore; son, Brian Lament Grice; brother-in-law, Lt. Colonel Charles E. Smith; niece, Birgit Smith Burton; sister-in-law, Lottie Grice and nieces, Lisa Grice McKissack and Lorie Grice Thomas; a special son, Will Thomas; special grandson, Ramone William Seaberry, and a host of relatives and friends.
