Mr. Norris McCaskey Sr.

*****NOTE: Visitation & Funeral Service Location and Times Listed Below*** Norris McCaskey Sr. transitioned from this life in a peaceful way on January 27, 2020 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born to the late Mattie Butler (Charlie) Dorsey and Willard McCaskey on July 9, 1946 in Mobile, AL. Norris attended elementary and secondary schools in Linden, Alabama, later graduating from George P. Austin High School. After graduating high school, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a Medical Assistant and fought in the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged. On June 22, 1988 he was united in matrimony with Brenda McCaskey. They were married for 31 years and have 6 children. He loved the Lord and was a member of Faith Temple Church of God where he served as security/parking lot ministry and later joined Tabernacle Church of God In Christ with his wife Brenda. Norris was employed with the United States Post Office and was a member of several organizations for the disabled veterans. Norris had a very outgoing personality, he very outspoken with a great sense of humor. He would share ideas with people and share his experiences, especially when he served in the military. He was the type of person who never met a stranger. He also was known to entertain family and friends and he would grill enough food to feed the neighborhood! He passed on his skills on the grill to his son, Bernard. He also loved cars and enjoyed detailing them. He will be greatly missed by all. Norris leaves to cherish his memories; his loving wife Brenda; daughters, Yolanda (Leroy) Garrett, DeShane McCaskey all of Charlotte, NC and Sonja Raciah McCaskey of Dixons Mills, AL; sons, Norris Bernard (Ayanna) McCaskey Jr. of Charlotte, NC, James Reddick of Phenix City, AL and Jamar McCaskey of Kalamazoo, MI; 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, god-children, Terrell Lockett and LaDesha McMillan; sisters; Geraldine (Henry) Young of Inglewood, CA; Mary Mouammar of Atlanta, GA; and Patricia (Joseph) Compton of Linden, AL; brother, Nazim (Naeemah) Muhammad of Tempe AZ; his in-loves include: Michael (Sophie) Holland and George (deceased) (Henrietta) Holland of Kalamazoo, MI; Georgia Mae Williamson, Mattie Holland, Cora Holland-Seymore and Carolyn (Napoleon) Boyd all of TN; aunts, Ruth McCaskey and Thelma McCaskey of Lower Peachtree, AL and Odessa Nelson of Kalamazoo, MI and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
