Mr. Spencer Turner

****NOTE: Funeral Arrangement Times & Location Listed Below**** On the morning of July 15, 2018 at the age of 70, Spencer passed away peacefully in his sleep. Spencer was born on May 22, 1948. He was the fourth child and third son of parents, Onetress and Leonard Turner Sr. At an early age, he showed an eagerness and ability to learn and was placed in advanced classes in which he was promoted and advanced a grade ahead. He participated in sports including wrestling and some how developed the nickname of "Speedy Chick". Spencer went on to graduate from Kalamazoo Central High School. Spencer loved his family and was the family's historian. He had a wealth of knowledge of family matters and was the go-to-person regarding ancestors and events. He remembered it all! Spencer loved to roller skate and give dance lessons on how to do the "Bop". He always had a nickname for everyone in the family. What we all will remember most about Spencer was his passion for singing, whether it be for the church choir or family get-togethers. He always had a song. In 1992 Spencer met and united in marriage with Mae Bell (Humphrey) Turner, whom he loved and cherished. She was the love of his life that lasted just as the vows they made together did, "until death do us part." Spencer left a message with his wife that he wanted to be shared with his family and friends as follows: "I don't want anyone to cry tears of sadness or sorrow at my home going. I want you to celebrate the good times and remember the days we shared together." He was preceded in death by his mother, Onetress P. Robinson; father, Leonard Turner Sr.; brother, Leonard Turner Jr.; sister, Dorothy M. Coleman; special aunt and uncle Wilma and Herman Stewart, whom he spent several years with as a child. Spencer is survived by his wife, Mae Bell Turner; his family, Michael McDade, Pennie (Migel) Hulbert, Baraka Humphrey and Marvin Humphrey along with many grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Robert Turner, Greggory Turner and Leon Robinson Jr.; sisters, Joyce Stewart, Onetress R. Thompson and Jacqueline Robinson along with special cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
