Mr. William Palm

Mr. William Clay Palm went home to be with the Lord, February 16, 2014. He was born July 23, 1943 ,the son of Norman and Virgie L. Palm, in Chicago, IL. He moved to Kalamazoo, MI with his family and attended Kalamazoo Public Schools, later receiving his GED in 1988. William was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age. William was employed at Brown Company for many years. He went on to work at Elias Brothers (Big Boy) Restaurant and the Holiday Inn where he became a cook. He later went on to work for Borgess Medical Center and retired after 20 years. He loved God and was a faithful member of the Galilee Baptist Church, serving faithfully in the Senior Usher Board, until illness prevented him to. He also volunteered in Kitchen/Cooking ministry. He supported Safe House in Kalamazoo and their efforts. He was an avid bowler with the TNBA. He was a very good cook and enjoyed cooking for everyone. He enjoyed music and was part of the singing group the “Kalamazoo Entertainer’s”. He was family oriented, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was very friendly, giving person, with a good sense of humor, who never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by ALL who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Anthony Wayne Palm and William James Palm Sr.; 1 brother, Keith Wade. His loving wife Shirley Palm of Kalamazoo, MI; daughters, Janine Orr of Rex, GA; Stephanie Thorton of Indianapolis, IN and Redise (Mark) Shakespeare of Athens, GA; sons, Anthony (“Tony”) (Stonia) Hunter, Derrick Hunter, Kevin Hunter, I and Michael (Helga) Hunter; brothers, Harry (Dorothy) Palms; Tommie (Nan) Palm and Monte Palm all of Kalamazoo, MI, Eddie Cain Sr., Charles Cain, Evert Cain and Norman Palm, Jr.; sisters, Tina (Jerry) Avery; Trudy (Jeffrey) Carr both of Kalamazoo, MI; Sherie (Carl) Sherman of Batltimore, MD; Dorothea (Mike) David and Evie Demery; aunt, Jewel Carr; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. daughter-in-law, Shermin Palm of Decatur, GA; sister-in-laws, Mona Palm, Olivia Hunter, Linda Hunter, Rita Palms, Sabrina Dennis and Regina (Ben) Powers; brother-in-law, Anthony Dennis; father-in-law, Charles Dennis; mother of his children, Noreen Palm, Linda Reels and Daisy Orr; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; Also, a host of special friends: James Phillips, Robert Penic, William (“Cowboy”) Pritchett, Jimmy Davidson, Rev. Hank Dungey, Billy Gill, Archie Williams, Charlene Harkness, Mishele Young, Leroy Bell, Preston Delany, Romie Ware, Toni Wilbon, Aubrey Avery and “special mom”, Mary Bailey. Also, special pallbearers, which include sons, grandsons, Dartagnan Johnson and David Jackson.
