THE CHURCH WILL PROVIDE HAND SANITIZER WHEN ENTERING THE BUILDING. __________________________________ THE OBITUARY Anthony Jay Daniel, (also known as “Jay Bird”, went home to Glory on July 13, 2023 in Kent County, Michigan. He was born December 22, 1961, the son of Charlie and Leola Franks. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Marks Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Rev. Charles Thomas. Anthony graduated from Loy Norrix High School, and after graduation joined the United States Army, where he served for 4 years until he was Honorably Discharged. He received several awards such as: Army Service Ribbon, Over Seas Service Ribbon, Expert Rifle-M16, 1st Class Hand Grenade and Good Conduct Medal-1. The whole family is proud of Jay, and they thank him for his service. After serving the Army, Jay became employed with the Kalamazoo Public School system. He also worked for Summit Polymers for 7 years. He is preceded in death by his father, Charlie Daniels, his sister, Sheila Lynne Franks and grandparents, Albert and Jessie Marshall. Jay had a good sense of humor and would say things to keep you laughing. He had a very sensitive side that most people wouldn’t know. For example, he loved animals and if he was watching television and saw a small animal it would touch him deeply. He was a very caring man with a big heart. Jay lived his life the way he wanted to. He would listen to others out of respect, but he would still do exactly what he wanted. He was a “my way or no way” type of guy. Jay loved his sons dearly. Recently he had moved in with his youngest son and they became very close. They enjoyed spending time together and Anthony would treat his son to dinner at different restaurants. He is known for having a big heart and caring for people. He will be greatly missed. Anthony is survived by his mother, Leola Franks; sons, Jayton Anthony Liggins and Joshua Antoine Liggins; many loving aunts and uncles; his special lady/girlfriend of 12 years, Annette Walden; cousins, Teresa Daniels, Pattie Daniels and Calvin Daniels, and a host of many, many friends. We will forever cherish his memory.
