CUSTER NATIONAL CEMETERY IN AUGUSTA, MI. ****NOTE: PLEASE SEE GATHERING DAY & TIMES LISTED BELOW**** ****PLEASE NOTE THE FAMILY IS REQUESTING THAT MASKS ARE WORN. If you have any questions, please contact us at: (269) 342-1000 ______________________________________ THE OBITUARY Mr. David Lamar Thomas departed this life on Thursday, January 13, 2022 with his wife by his side. He was born November 8, 1957 the son of Sarah Mae (Gooden) Thomas and James Thomas in Birmingham, AL. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and while serving he was a Communications Officer until he was Honorably Discharged. David met Melinda and they united in marriage in 1988. To this union a blended family was formed with children: Tereshia, Tanika, and Donovan David was known to be a very intelligent, hard-working man. He worked in many capacities which included being employed as a Police Officer for many years, and later working for Mercedes Benz. Later, David decided to take his experience as an electrician and went on to own his own business specializing in Air, Heating, Cooling and Conditioning. David was a quiet, gentle spirit, who was known to have many friends. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He also loved soul food and cooking. He would make the best macaroni and cheese. He would also barbecue at family gatherings. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Mitchell. David leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Melinda Thomas; children, Tereshia of Texas; Tanika (Marc) of Fishers, IN; Donovan of Birmingham, AL; sisters, Emily Thomas and Patricia Thomas; brothers, James Thomas Jr. and Kenneth Paul Thomas and a host of grandchildren; great grandchlldren; along with many special nieces, nephews, cousins, others relatives and friends.
