Lamar Allen Ayers Sr. also known as “Hoggy” in his younger years, departed from this life Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He was born May 4, 1972 to Florence M. Ayers and James Word Sr. in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Lamar attended Loy Norrix High School and received his diploma through M.D.O.C. Lamar was a self-employed contractor, who received his certificate in Basic Construction Skill Training from L.E.A.D. 1st, LLC. In March of 2018. He was a “jack of all trades” and passionate about his work. Family was very important to Lamar. There was nothing he loved more than hanging out with his children, mom, siblings, cousins and friends. When he wasn’t working or hanging out with family, you could find him fishing or cooking. Lamar was preceded in death by his son, Lamar Jr.; his father, James Word Sr.; 2 sisters, Tonya and Tiffany Ayers; his brother, Tyrone Phillips; paternal grandparents, Henry and Rosie Word; and maternal grandparents, Harold and Dorothy Bell. He leaves to cherish his memory: 3 daughters, Camille and Valon Ayers, and Summer Myers; 3 grandchildren Nadia, Jarrod and Maliah all of Kalamazoo, MI; his mother, Florence M. Ayers; sisters: Yvonne Ayers, Angela and Tracy Word, Kim (Alex) Chicot, Antoinette and Shentele; brothers: Lamont (Jade) Ayers, Darrell and James Jr. (“Spud”) Word, Emanuel (Tiffany) Phillips and Michael Anderson; step-mother, Helen Word; and special family-in-love, Dora and Dejanique Woodard, Erica and Eric Thomas; special cousins, Jason Mills, Johnnie Bell and Cerese (“Lucy”) Bell; Friends, Kenny Woodard and James Robinson; also a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
