Mrs. Mildred E. Clark-Armstrong

December 21, 1944 - May 6, 2017

Mildred E. (Clark) Armstrong, affectionately known as ”Mil”, departed this life on May 6, 2017, after a lengthy illness. She was born December 21, 1944, the daughter of Amos and Viola Godfrey Clark in Kalamazoo, MI. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Kalamazoo. She attended Kalamazoo Central High School, graduating in 1965. She later went on to study at Davenport University and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She became employed at Bronson Methodist Hospital as a Medical Encoding Clerk. She also was employed at Western Michigan University and went on to work at Gipson Guitar until retirement. Mildred met the love of her life, Joe Armstrong and in October 21, 1977, they united in marriage. She became a homemaker after retirement, and she enjoyed spending quality time with her husband and children. She loved to travel with her husband , spending time with family, along with her friends. “Mil” was a friend to all and everyone loved her. She was very wise and would give the best advice. She was also very honest and direct so don’t get on her bad side, or she would tell you about yourself! She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Armstrong (“Karate Joe"); her parents, Amos and Viola Godfrey Clark; siblings, Ester Ross, Betty (Floyd) Gardner and Barbara Clark; nephews, Charles Clark Jr. and Anthony Gardner; sister-in-law, Bridget Alston Clark and friends, Ms. Carol Hodges and Nona Harkness. She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Kimyatta Armstrong (Derick Pratt); her stepchildren whom she loved very much, Joe D. Armstrong, Dawn Armstrong, Michael Armstrong, Robert Armstrong, and Jerry Armstrong Sr.; grandchildren, Shantea’ Stafford, Marquise Stewart Jr., Markesha Stewart and Tatiana Stewart; 12 step-grandchildren; great grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Great-Great”, Roman and Romarion Brown; Daeyshawn and Kaedyn Stewart; Jordan and Jaden McClinton; Javon and Josiah Stewart; Ja' Cion Warren, Julian Timmons; Marcedes and Marquise Stewart Jr.; Na’Zire Stacey; Chayce’ Stewart and twin girls who will be born soon; siblings, Charles Clark Sr., Roosevelt Clark; Delroy Clark; Larry Clark and Jerry (Judy) Clark.
