Mother Passie Mae Logan

July 17, 1927 - January 8, 2017

Mother Passie Mae Logan, 89 made her heavenly transition into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Passie Mae Logan was born on July 17, 1927, in Holly Ridge, Louisiana to the Late Ado Autman, Sr., and Rosia Mae Turner-Autman. Passie confessed and received the Lord in her life and began her spiritual walk as a faithful member of The New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Bastrop, Louisiana under the leadership of Pastor Isaac Williams. As an active member, she also served as the church secretary. In 1968, Passie and her family moved to Albion, Michigan where she became a member of Gethsemane Temple Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the Late Superintendent, James S. Lee, she continued her walk as a faithful and supportive member. Passie had a heart and passion for giving, even if it meant she had to do without. After, listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit, Passie moved her membership to Grace Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Steve Williams. Passie was employed at several nursing homes throughout Calhoun and Jackson Counties. However, a few years ago, she said, “her material labor was done”. She retired from Jackson County Medicare Facility in Jackson Michigan as a Certified Nursing Assistant. In her early years, Passie was an avid gardener, made her own jellies, and canned her own fruits and vegetables. She loved to cook, as holidays were the highlight for family gatherings, therefore Passie could show off her cooking skills. Passie loved her children and looked forward to taking yearly trips with them to different places. She also enjoyed traveling to different states with them. A favorite place for Passie to visit was Mackinaw Island. Passie also loved to “crochet” in her spare time. But most of all, Passie loved reading the Bible. She would get up at 5:00 am, take a shower, and then read her Bible for hours. She was a praying mother, and full of WISDOM. She also shared her wisdom often with her children and others. Passie is preceded in death by her parents, Ado Autman, Sr., and Rosia Mae Turner- Autman; sisters, Massie L. Ollie and Dorothy M. Moore; brother-Ado Autman, Jr.; her sons, Charles William Tanner, Joseph Autman and a step-son, Willie James Logan. Passie’s memory will be treasured by her children, Rosie Lee Coleman and Leon Logan both of Albion, Michigan; Elijah Tanner, Jr. and Larry Joe Logan both of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Jo Ann (Thurlow) Miller and (Dixie) "Dee" Drake both of Columbus, Ohio; Dorothy M. Bates of Palm Bay Florida and Joyce (Bobby) Quarles of Lafayette, Indiana. Also, a special friend Vickie Calhoun along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Passie is also survived by her siblings, David L. Autman and Taro Autman both of Joliet Illinois; Lula M. Russell of Albion, Michigan and Marjorie Robinson of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
