Denise was born October 27,1955 in Vicksburg, MS to parents Robert and Edna Granville. She accepted Christ at the age of sixty-four and was baptized at First United Baptist Church August 1, 2021. Denise began Early Childhood education at Jackson Mississippi Public Schools and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1973 after the Granville family relocated to Kalamazoo, MI in 1969. Denise then went on to complete a Billing & Coding Certificate at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She spent most of her working career as an Insurance Claims Supervisor for various agencies in Kalamazoo, MI. She made many friends while working and maintained several of them for decades. Denise was formerly united in marriage to Newessie (Nicki) Gardner with whom she remained good friends. Denise spent the majority of her adult years caring for and loving her many nieces and nephews as family was extremely important to her. Her motherly nature and cooking skills were just a few of the traits others loved about Denise. She embodied the strength of several and continuously brought light and love to those around her. Denise also especially loved fishing local lakes and taking road trips for horse racing and concerts. Her mother and friend, Edna, predeceased Denise in 2012. Denise leaves to cherish her memory: her father, Robert; her brothers, Robert E., Charles K. and his ex-wife, Gail. Nieces and Nephews, TaKishia, Robert E Jr., Sonya, Jasmine, Melissa, Cassandra. Great Nieces and Nephews, Cornelius, Rico, Omar, Raekwon, Isaiah, Naomi, Nalaya, Jeremiah, Indigo and Micah. A special thanks to Denise's life-long friends: Patricia McPherson, Gail Davis, Cynthia Gardner, Rosemary Johnson, Autumn Forester, Mabel Dennie, Julia Vincent and Denise's special friend, Kevin Smith. Please join the Granville Family in celebrating the life of a loving, compassionate, strong, God-fearing daughter, sister and aunt.
