Mr. Tommie M. Palm

September 19, 1947 - November 18, 2017

Tommie M. Palm transitioned from his earthly home on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 12:05 a.m. at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He is now at peace. His years of illness took its toil and God put His arms around him and said, "Come to Me". He was born September 19, 1947 the son of Norman and Virgie (Carr) Palm. He graduated fro Kalamazoo Public Schools in 1967. Tommie enlisted in the United States Army shortly after High School and served with honor during the Vietnam War. After returning to Kalamazoo, he worked at Northglade Elementary School as a paraprofessional. Tommie was employed with the Kalamazoo Public School system for 30 years, until retiring in 1999. After relaxing for a about three months, he went to work for KSS. Tommie was also in the Army Reserves for over twenty years, where he met a group of guys and they formed a friendship and bonded as brothers. Tommie accepted the Lord at a young age, and attended Second Baptist Church. He later attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Tommie enjoyed singing and listening to music. He sang in programs and weddings. He was often heard singing while he worked and was invited to sing a school programs, which delighted both the staff and students. He loved attending the Gardner Family Reunions, attending all but the last two reunions because of his declining health. Tommie also enjoyed watching classic movies and sports. He was a true Michigan State fan. He loved his family and made it a priority to call and visit his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Virgie; his step-mother, Evie; and his brothers, Keith, Billy and Harry. Surviving to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 46 years, Nannie Palm; his daughters, Jenee' and Shivohn; precious grandson, Xavier and Nathan; his daughter, Tammi Hoskin and her children and grandchildren; sisters, Tina (Jerry) Avery, Trudy (Jeff) Carr of Kalamazoo; Sherie (Carl) Sherman of Baltimore, MD; Doretha (Mike) Davis, Evie Demery of Chicago; brothers, Monte (Carrie) Palm of Kalamazoo; Norman Jr. Jimmy, Eddie, Charles and Evert Cain all of Chicago; one aunt, Jewel Carr; sister-in-laws, Shirley Palm, Mona Palm, Dorothy Palms, Rita Palms, Ann (Pete) Martin, and Lucy Frazier of Ohio. Also a host of special nephews, nieces, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relatives that held a special place in his heart. Tommie will be missed but his memory will be always and forever in our hearts.
