Mr. Albert McDonald

Albert Lee McDonald was born in Sylvarena, MS on June 26, 1949 to Willie and Willie D. McDonald. He departed this life on March 5, 2013 at Borgess Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. Albert (lovingly known as “Buddy”) moved to Joliet, IL in 1954. He then moved to Kalamazoo, MI in 1962 where he attended Kalamazoo Public Schools. Then he was employed at Brown Paper Company. He later was employed at Sweetwater's Donuts, until he was unable to work. Buddy confessed a hope in Christ at The Church Of The Living God, with Pastor Stephen Hawkins who also married him and Carroll McDonald, in 1996. Buddy was a kind-hearted person who always kept a smile on his face. He was a very outgoing and outspoken person He will be missed by family and friends, who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Willie D. McDonald; one son, Tyson McDonald; one sister, Mamie Lindsey; 3 brothers, robert , Booker T. and Carl McDonald. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife, Caroll McDonald. He also leaves to cherish him, his baby girl, Charmisha (Carveail) Miles; 2 sons, Robert McDonald and Todd Pratt, all of Kalamazoo, MI; 2 stepdaughters, Stonia Hunter and Sonia Terry; 6 grandchildren; Robert Pratt, Chaquala Pratt, Wanisha Scott, Quincy Perry, La’Derrick Clay, La’Darius Clay, Derrmisha Clay; 2 great-grandchildren, Kardeiana Walsh, Kardeion and Albert Lee Walsh; 9 step-grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Mattie Lewis of Joliet, IL; Minnie Davis of Nicholas, GA; Ida Conner of Joliet, IL, Bessie Palmore and Vicki of Kalamzoo, MI; 1 brother, Willie Jay (Velma) McDonald of Joliet; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Very special people who were in his life and friends that he enjoyed hanging with everyday: mother of his children, Wandneant Pratt; Sam Wadell Waller and Arthur “Wayne” Wode all of Kalamazoo, MI. He loved life and loved his family. Let us not forget his smile. Let us not forget his jokes. Let us not forget the gift we’ve been given for 63 years, who touched people everywhere he went and brightened all of our lives.
