Geraldine Louise Sallee

Geraldine Louise Sallee, 70, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away peacefully at 12:05 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at Rose Arbor Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, after a sudden battle with cancer. Geraldine was born November 26, 1942 in Liberty Township, Van Wert County, Ohio City, OH. She was the daughter of the late Walter Clouse and Evelyn (Hoghe) Clouse. Geraldine was a 1961 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School. She was employed with Brown Company, Durametallic, Mattawan Schools, L. Lee Stryker Center and most recently spent her years as a nanny for two families; Diane Kanouse (Steve) Nelson's boys Shawn and Drew, and Suzanne (Ryan) Ender's boys Patrick and James. She was genuine, very involved with her children and grandchildren. She was heavily drawn into community volunteer services such as the American Red Cross, Kalamazoo Mission, Salvation Army, various local churches, and her home church, Valley Family Church of Kalamazoo. She deeply enjoyed giving and serving others, loving and spending time with everyone, fishing, stacking wood, gardening, picking berries, canning, quilting, and camping. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence "Larry" Elwood Clouse; an aunt, Thelma Wermer and an uncle, Albert Hoghe. Geraldine is survived by her two sons, Stephen (Jodi) Sallee of Kalamazoo, MI, and Clinton (Samantha) Sallee of Otsego, MI.; six grandchildren, Autumn, Cole, Jaekob, Jocelyn, Danica and Mason Sallee; two sisters, Rosalyn (James) Witten of Lake Placid, FL and Gloria (Jon) Foor of Lagro, IN; one brother, Charles (Joyce) Clouse of Jacksonville, FL; one aunt, Sylvia Hoghe of Van Wert, OH; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Michigan visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Valley Family Church of Kalamazoo, 2500 Vincent Ave, in the Cathedral. An Ohio graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City, with Pastor Randy Bevington of the Ohio City Church of God officiating. Immediately following the burial, friends may meet the family at the Ohio City Church of God. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Rose Arbor Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan and/or Ohio City Church of God.
