Mrs. Lois C. Harris (Foster)

Lois Charlene Harris was born on October 14, 1930, in Hope, Arkansas to Charlie and Ola B. Foster, who have preceded her in death. She peacefully went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2014, after a long illness at Heartland Nursing Home with family by her side. Lois moved to Kalamazoo at a young age and accepted Christ where she became a member of Second Baptist Church under Pastor Bernis Warfield Sr. She attended Lincoln Elementary Middle School and Kalamazoo Central High. After her children became of age to be in school all day she worked at Holiday Inn Crosstown Hotel and retired after 15 years. Lois was known as “Mama or Grandma” by many who knew her and she touched the lives of many in her own special way always helping those in need. She was blessed to go back home to Hope, Arkansas twice, to her first great-granddaughter’s high school graduation and to visit her beloved cousin, Irene Mays. Preceding her in death is: her husband Ellis Harris, Sr., her eldest son Charles E. Foster (Chucky), a daughter, Carolyn Hodges Wilbon (Mae Perkins), a granddaughter Tracy Hodges, her grandson Johnny Gillam (John-John), her great-grandson Falando D Jones, Jr. (Little Bam), her great-great grandson Deontae Perez, Jr. (Little Tae), her great-granddaughter Brittany Hardy, her son-in-laws Charles Warren Sr. (Uncle), and Larry Dixon, III, her daughter-in-law Elnora Foster, and a very dear beloved cousin, Irene Mays. Surviving are: her children, Fred (Sue) Coker, Shirley Lee, Reginald Foster, Sr., James Robinson, JoAnn (Alfred) Marcilous, Gloria Jones, and Laticia Dixon; her step-children, Cheryl (Terry) Carr, Opal Carr, Mable Evans, Ronald (Janice) Evans, Charles Evans, Jr., Candy (Paul) Ketchens, and Pandora (Jerome) Agnew.
