Lula Mae Taylor

Lula Mae Taylor, age 88, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2020, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Lula was born on September 6, 1931, in Patmos, Hempstead, Arkansas to George Nelson Burn Sr. of Prairie, Miller, Arkansas and Sallie Mae Carter of Patmos, Hempstead, Arkansas. She moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, at an early age and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. Lula dedicated her life to keeping her family together. She was extremely close to her siblings often enjoyed to spending quality time with family and attending family gatherings. She had a very special bond with her two nephews Albert Jim Pierson and Zeb Sheppard and love them as her little brothers. She was employed with Brunswick Fiber Glass Co. before beginning her career in real estate where she served as a licensed Realtor with Pierson Real Estate and subsequently Willis S. Diller & Sons, Realtors. Following the real estate crash of the 1980’s, Lula accepted a position with the Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital from which she ultimately retired. She is preceded in death by her parents, George Nelson Burns Sr. and Sallie Mae Carter, her former husband Milton Charles Taylor Sr., her siblings George Nelson Burns Jr., Julia Burns (Cooper), Elnora Burns (Jackson), Rosezetta Burns (Palmore) and Alexander Burns, her three sons Alvin Charles Taylor, Gregg Allen Taylor and Victor Mark Taylor and her great grandson Chase Lamont Déquan Taylor. The family matriarch, loving mother, grandmother, aunt and trusted friend, Lula Mae leaves to mourn her two daughters, Patricia Ann (Julush) Banks of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Lender Gale Alexander of Las Vegas, Nevada, two sons Milton Charles (Rebecca) Taylor Jr. and David Anthony (Thais) Taylor both of Kalamazoo, Michigan; a multitude of grandchildren, ALL of whom believed they were her favorite grandchild and numerous great-grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Lula Mae will be greatly missed. She was loved by all who knew her.
